Mary Ann Rafoth, Ph.D.

MY MISSION

I.E.P consulting's mission is to support and empower parents and caregivers. I partner with families and schools to provide insight and innovative solutions for students with academic, behavioral, or emotional challenges.  I provide the tools for students to become resilient, reflective learners and self-advocates. I provide documentation and recommendations to parents to aid in placement meetings, IEP meetings, 504 plan meetings, and transition into preschool special needs, kindergarten through grade 12, and post-secondary or college meetings, including retention in grade.

VALUES

  • A collaborative, transparent, team approach rooted in integrity and empathy.

  • A solution orientation that builds self-advocacy and is based on the science of learning and instruction.

  • A restorative practices framework for positive discipline and relationship building.

WHAT I PROVIDE

Feelings of both frustration and confusion can arise for parents as they observe their child’s learning and behavior at each developmental stage.  Parents may struggle to answer these questions:  Is my child ready for school?  Is my child’s behavior developmentally appropriate?  Is my child having feelings of anxiety or feeling daily stress? What gets in the way of my child's success?  What support will be needed to help my child thrive?  Which professionals need to be involved?  How will I coordinate all of the support?  What are the best parenting strategies for my child's growth and wellness?

I provide relevant information to parents/caregivers when faced with decisions about their child's education or home life before formal schooling and as they enter school and develop along the way. I partner with families to support them in their parenting of a child with a challenge, and coordinate with schools to support the implementation of best practices and necessary accommodations and modifications.  I work with families with children who are ready for early childhood through grade twelve and support families whose children are transitioning to post-secondary programming and college.
